Galapagos art space in New York

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

We will play in New York at the Galapagos Art Space in februar, the date is not fixed yet, 12 or 19 february, still we are really happy and proud to play this amazing and modern space dedicated to art and music .

What they say about in the Gothamist:

Galapagos Evolves in DUMBO

Galapagos has officially set up shop and opened their doors in DUMBO, though a full schedule isn’t planned to go into effect until September. The beautiful new space, located between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges on the corner Water and Main Streets, can hold 175 seated and around 230 standing. Director Robert Elmes told us that the new arts space will continue to focus on the cultural ecosystem by hosting “theater, dance, performance art, cinema, puppetry, classical and world music, lectures, literary events and fundraising events for non profits and local cultural groups.” There will be no rock concerts, as there were previously at the Williamsburg space. Check out some of what is in store, after the jump.

As for the move, Elmes notes: “We love DUMBO, we’re very excited to be here and given that we were certain we were moving to Berlin, the chance to remain in New York was a godsend. And growing our Williamsburg pond into a 1600 square foot lake, and opening what we hope will be the city’s first LEED certified ‘green’ cultural venue has made us very happy.”

Speaking of green, one interesting thing of note about the exterior of the building: the old window area had previously been adorned with some art pieces, but the venue is painting over it. Why? They’re planning a vertical grass wall with flowers there. Elmes tells us they also hope to have a green roof by this fall.”

Theremin

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Many people use to ask me about the weird box with an antenna I use on stage..

It’s a theremin. Mine is a cheap one home-made, plugged on the vocoder of my microkorg to use the filters of the synth.

It was invented in 1919, but considered like a modern instrument.

I use it on the song called Transmission on her album Plush mechanique(Alpinechic.net) and on stage.

I give you some links about.
A video found on the net.

more beauty less pollution

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

music, when it’s good, when it’s “pleasing to the ear” is the strongest force we have against noise pollution. today, we not only sport our unique 9 digit ID, but also our signature bleeps and blips that accompany us wherever we may wander. we respond pavlov pup style, harnessed to our portable devices. these bits of plastic and metal also quietly heat up our world and fry us from the inside… not to say that i don’t love my iphone. mine is set on marimba. very popular with the iphone crowd from what i’ve heard. thanks to at&t though “more bars in more places” i have no reception in my yurt*…. so this is my contribution to fighting noise pollution by default. we can all do our part though by turning our ringers off, or at least down, and feigning at least a small measure of concern when chatting in public with one’s lover or second closest bff, that no, surprisingly, strangers don’t care to know what the duck your plans are tonight. you dig? and i invite you to shoot bb’s at every light emitting high pitched buzzzzzzes and squeals. because THAT’S loving thy neighbour. THAT’S making the world a more beautiful place in which to rejoice and then slowly expire.

i mentioned beauty pleasing to the ear…let’s get to that. the voice is Bowie-esque touched only with a bit more grace and experience (you think, how could it be?…well, it is!). the dulcet tone belongs to none other than barcelonian JORGE PENSI, . and he has kindly requested a duet with me, kat, and soon to come, a collaboration with panda transport. what are we? excited. check out his bellissimo vox and melancholy ballads out on itunes when you can. his voice will make your heart swoon and then gladly surrender.

i love my band mate’s anglais

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

i love it. each word is like a fine piece of art, every phrase spun with cherubs, lollipops and rainbows. one time whilst driving around the united states of america, earth, thierry asked me, “why do americans put their opinions in their fields?”

a very good question.

recently i learned that virginia is the per capita leader in vanity plates.

god! i love my country and my state.
